The Art of Synergy: Freed Developments & CD Capital Developments
Exceptional buildings are at the heart of every great city. They transform a neighbourhood, shape its street life and enhance the way people connect with where they live, work and play.
The appearance marked his first visit to Canada, celebrating his unique collaboration in the creation of the residential lobbies for the project coming to Yonge at Eglinton.
“Transforming a neighbourhood is quite a process,” says Peter Freed, President of Freed Developments and the visionary behind the revitalization of the King West neighbourhood. “It’s not done by one person at one moment in time. It’s an ongoing process, and thousands of people are involved. To be able to play a part in that process is a privilege.”
It is this process of transformation, in partnership with CD Capital Developments that Peter hopes to bring to midtown with the Art Shoppe Lofts + Condos.
“We believe this is going to be one of the greatest places to live, work and play in the future,” says Todd Cowan, a partner at CD Capital Developments. “For us, this project was a perfect opportunity, as it’s located in a part of Toronto that’s going through a fundamental change. To be part of that change and to have an iconic development that’s leading the whole transition is very exciting.”
That brings us to Yonge and Eglinton, a neighbourhood ready for its moment. With the pending arrival of the LRT line, new developments on the horizon, an influx of people and new found energy, the coming years will bring a great deal of change to this important neighbourhood.
The Art ShoppeLofts + Condos is a major catalyst for this change. “For someone who does what we do, the opportunity to reconfigure and redevelop an entire city block, like the Art Shoppe, is the opportunity of a lifetime,” says Peter. “Our objective with this building is to create an architectural structure that looks like no other building in the city. A building that takes full advantage of the size of land we have, along with its unobstructed view looking south, all the way to the lake. It really will be a spectacular experience.”
“The public transport aspect is definitely the most exciting part for me,” says Jordan Dermer, partner at CD Capital Developments. “This is going to be a major anchor hub of transportation for the city. If you can live in a node where you can go east, west, north, or south, where a short walk will take you to the Eglinton Crosstown or the Yonge line, then you have everything at your door.”
Adds Todd, “To find a site in such an amazing location where you can benefit from having a full city block on Yonge Street in the most important city in the country – it’s a once-in-a lifetime opportunity.”
Yonge and Eglinton is on the rise, and the Art Shoppe Lofts + Condos will put residents at the doorstep of all this new energy, vibrancy and convenience that midtown’s showcase neighbourhood has to offer
